Suno vs Udio vs Mureka in 2026: which AI song generator to use

Short answer

In late 2026 Suno is the most widely used AI song generator and still lets paid subscribers download songs with commercial-use rights. Udio switched off downloads in October 2025 after its Universal Music deal, so songs made there stay inside Udio. Mureka, from Skywork AI, makes songs from text, lyrics, a reference track or a hummed melody, and includes MP3 downloads with commercial licensing from its Basic plan.

Suno

Suno is the generator most Tunami.ai creators use. It writes and sings complete songs, and you can give it your own lyrics and a style. Its free plan gives 50 credits a day but no downloads and no commercial rights. Pro (8 US dollars a month, 2,500 credits) and Premier (24 dollars a month, 10,000 credits) include a monthly number of song downloads and commercial-use rights.

What changed: in November 2025 Suno settled with Warner Music Group and said it would launch new licensed models in 2026 and retire the current ones, with downloads limited to paid plans. Suno's terms (effective September 2026) assign Suno's rights in your output to you on paid plans, while making no promise that copyright exists in it.

Best for: finished songs with vocals that you want to publish. Suno tracks on Tunami.ai.

Udio

Udio built its name on audio quality and fine control over style. In October 2025 Udio settled with Universal Music Group and agreed to build a licensed service, and it switched off downloads; creations now stay inside Udio. That makes Udio a place to make and listen, not a source of files to publish elsewhere, unless and until downloads return. Check Udio's site for the current position.

Best for: experimenting inside Udio. If you have Udio songs you downloaded before October 2025, read Udio's terms before you publish them. Udio tracks on Tunami.ai.

Mureka

Mureka is made by Skywork AI, part of Kunlun Tech. Besides text prompts and lyrics, it can start from a reference track or a melody you hum, and it is known for songs in many languages. Its site listed a Basic plan from about 8 dollars a month with MP3 downloads and commercial licensing, and a Pro plan around 24 dollars a month that adds WAV, instrumental and stem downloads. Free users get basic features with limits.

Best for: songs in languages other than English, and starting from a tune you already have in your head. Mureka tracks on Tunami.ai.

Which should you use?

  • You want finished songs to publish: Suno on a paid plan, or Mureka Basic.
  • You sing or hum melodies: Mureka.
  • You want stems to mix yourself: Mureka Pro.
  • You want to stay in one app and just listen: Udio.

Whichever you choose, do not prompt for a real artist's voice, write your own lyrics when you can, and keep the best take. When a song is ready, publish it on Tunami.ai, where it can climb the weekly chart. For free options, see free AI music generators.
