Somewhere in a Foreign Land

This song emerged from an exploration of classic soldier ballads and their unique power: few words, a clear march, a simple melody-and yet an entire destiny contained within. A major source of inspiration was"The Ballad of the Green Berets", which was co-written and performed by Barry Sadler in 1966. This song embodies a patriotic, military ethos: duty, camaraderie, self-sacrifice, and pride take center stage. Somewhere in a Foreign Land takes up the form of this ballad but leads it in a different direction.
