THE SQUONK The inspiration for this song comes from American lumberjack folklore, particularly the old tales from the forests of Pennsylvania. The Squonk is one of the strangest and saddest creatures among the legendary Fearsome Critters. A small, misshapen creature with wrinkled skin, so deeply ashamed of its appearance that it cries endlessly. Its tears leave a trail through the woods, making it easy to track. But when captured, the poor creature can literally dissolve into nothing but tears
